Featuring LuLu Brown, a female high school soccer player in Australia
Herstory
I have had a few hardships growing up in Australia where at both my schools I was one of the very few Asian girls, that let alone played soccer. As women we are never seen or thought of highly enough, there are always men who act and think they are superior. This is even shown from a very young age. I've always felt like I was an outsider and that I didn't belong and people around me made it worse. It was even the little things like not allowing me to participate in activities or assuming things of me like that I am so smart because I am Asian. It is even people just using me being Asian as some sort of way to put me down or use it as an excuse? But I am proud to be Taiwanese Australian and being of color or different race or background doesn't make me or anyone else less human. My role model is Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a Portuguese soccer player and one of the most famous soccer players in the world. I look up to him because as a child growing up he came from nothing and he has faced so many hardships yet he still keeps going. He was always told that he was never good enough and would never become a professional soccer player. He didn't listen put the time and effort in and proved everyone wrong. I find this so inspiring that no matter what everyone else spends you say and think that if you put in the effort then you can do anything.
